FORWARD : WIRDA was formed by a group of professionals cutting across all displines ,Gender and Religion to try to bridge an existing capacity building , information and service delivery gap between policy making bodies, international organizations, development agencies and unexposed rural Community Based Organization's (CBO's) particularly marginalizes women organizations.

The focus of WIRDA ’s programs is to promote opportunities that reduce poverty and improve the health of rural Ugandans by building capacity of local CBOs and FBOs through training in needs assessment , proposal development service delivery , community out reach education, mentoring and counseling, so that those trained in turn are are able to implement supportive initiatives for the vulnerable groups such as women, orphans,disabled, elderly and persons living with HIV/AIDs. WIRDA ’s programs are designed to build in-depth relationships between traditional CBOs ,FBOs, local government partners, and local communities based on mutual respect, openness and trust.

WIRDA has continuing research on the effectiveness of solicited poverty reduction and community out reach education programs implemented by the local partners to know what is working in order to scale it up, and improve on what is not working

A Poverty and HIV Free Uganda where every citizen has access to the basics of life –Health, Education, Food, Shelter, Justice while preserving nature.  

Our Mission statement
WIRDA exits to strengthen the capacity of CSOs and FBOs to tap and utilize available local, national and foreign resources in order to generate supportive initiatives targeting the most vulnerable notably rural women, adolescents, youth, orphans, elderly, disabled.

Organizational  structure

WIRDA ’s Executive Committee, under the General Assembly at the top of the organization, provides policy direction and guidance to the management for the effective operation of the programmes and projects. Membership
Membership to WIRDA is open to all Ugandans, individuals and group, irrespective of sex, age, race, belief or other differences. However, membership is divided into three categories that include full, Associate and Affiliate (group) membership.
